Det blir särskilt ödesmättat när det nya året ska impregneras i det frånstötande ytterhöljet och det gamla ska skiftas ut på en leråker 11 kilometer norr om Visby. Fyrverkerierna blir till mänsklighetens tomtebloss i världsrymden över de kusliga kalkkåkarna. De avlägset dova knallarna. Skriken från vildmarken ropar gooooooott nyyytttt år. Barnens röster spolas bort i vindens snöregn. Så klafset av fötter i lera följt av total tystnad och totalt mörker.
Det är då tankarna landar i enkla civiliserade ting som att träna mer på gym, gå ner x kilo i vikt, jobba mindre. Det är som den ödesmättande naturen i sin omfattning kväver visionerna, som vi ytterligare ett år kapitulerar inför den överviktiga övermakten och tillåter oss de enkla utvägarna. Inget kan ändå förändras egentligen. Som om politikernas pragmatism och visionslöshet har blivit en folkrörelse.
